Welcome to the community portal of Gorkhas of Assam and North East

Yes we are the same Gorkhas whos bravery is admired all over the world.

Gorkhas are one of the largest and among the most colourfull ethnic communities of North East. Gorkha is a very diverse community that includes people of Aryan, mogolian and tibetan stock. There are many sub communities like Bahuns and Chetrys, Rai, Limboo, Newar, Magar, Sherpa, Gurungs that have distinct culture, tradition and very different languages. Yet they all identify themselves as a Gorkha.

Apart from Sikkim also lakhs of Gorkhas have been living in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Meghalaya and Mizoram since centuries. Unlike those of Sikkim, information about Gorkhas in other parts of North East is not readily available. We hope that through this platform, we all will be able to know more about each other and also let the rest of the world know about us
